WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of more than $39 million in grants to 46 states and territories to increase the capacity of Registered Apprenticeship programs across key industries and provide workers with access to the new, good-paying jobs created under the Biden-Harris administration’s Investing in America agenda. In February, the department’s Employment and Training Administration announced the availability of base formula funding and competitive funding through the State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula grants. Today’s awards represent the base formula funding to states to increase their ability to serve, improve and expand Registered Apprenticeship programs. This represents the second round of State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula funding the department has awarded. This investment will support the expansion of Registered Apprenticeship in industries such as K-12 education, transportation, clean energy, supply chain, hospitality, care economy and other public sector occupations. This investment will also be critical to build the workforce needed to carry out the Biden-Harris administration’s generational investments through the Investing in America agenda, which includes the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act. “President Biden’s historic Investing in America agenda is rebuilding the middle class and expanding access to the training and career preparation that connects people to good jobs with family-sustaining wages,” said Acting Secretary Julie Su. “The State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula grants help increase Registered Apprenticeship opportunities across states and ensure the promise of good jobs extends to all communities.”State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula grants support states to engage industry partners, create post-secondary education career pathways and develop the talent pipeline needed to meet the skill needs of their local labor markets. The funding advances the Biden-Harris administration’s goals to expand, modernize and diversify Registered Apprenticeship for all American workers, including women, people of color, individuals with disabilities and other underserved communities. The department awarded the following funding through the State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula grants: RecipientCityStateAmountAlaska Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentJuneauAK$427,539Arizona Department of Economic SecurityPhoenixAZ$894,029Arkansas Department of CommerceLittle RockAR$618,250Colorado Department of Labor and EmploymentDenverCO$839,094Government of District of ColumbiaWashingtonDC$390,921Delaware Department of LaborWilmingtonDE$422,543Technical College System of GeorgiaAtlantaGA$1,114,506Guam Department of AdministrationTamuningGU$328,834State of Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial RelationsHonoluluHI$576,247Idaho Department of LaborBoiseID$479,200Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic OpportunitySpringfieldIL$1,689,825Indiana Department of Workforce DevelopmentIndianapolisIN$1,233,642Iowa Workforce DevelopmentDes MoinesIA$746,918Kansas Department of CommerceTopekaKS$534,340Kentucky Department of Workforce DevelopmentFrankfortKY$695,929Louisiana Workforce CommissionBaton RougeLA$673,671Maine Department of LaborAugustaME$416,623Maryland Governor’s Workforce Investment BoardBaltimoreMD$1,092,175Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentBostonMA$1,052,584Michigan Department of Labor and Economic OpportunityLansingMI$1,419,882State of Minnesota Department of Labor and IndustrySt. PaulMN$998,712Mississippi Department of Employment SecurityJacksonMS$576,833Missouri Department of Higher EducationJefferson CityMO$1,253,576Montana Department of Labor and IndustryHelenaMT$443,598Nebraska Department of EducationLincolnNE$488,733State of NevadaCarson CityNV$721,602Community College System of New HampshireConcordNH$474,623New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentTrentonNJ$1,039,863New Mexico Department of Workforce SolutionsAlbuquerqueNM$488,426New York State Department of LaborAlbanyNY$1,865,188North Carolina Community College SystemRaleighNC$1,202,705North Dakota Department of Public InstructionBismarckND$389,661Ohio Department of Job and Family ServicesColumbusOH$1,633,602Oklahoma Department of EducationStillwaterOK$562,459Oregon Bureau of Labor and IndustriesPortlandOR$882,371Pennsylvania Department of Labor and IndustryHarrisburgPA$1,552,734Rhode Island Department of Labor and TrainingCranstonRI$440,301South Carolina State Board for Technical and Comprehensive EducationColumbiaSC$757,218South Dakota Department of Labor and RegulationPierreSD$395,991Texas Workforce CommissionAustinTX$2,812,636Vermont Department of LaborMontpelierVT$392,652Virginia Department of Workforce Development and AdvancementRichmondVA$1,136,652Washington State Department of Labor and IndustriesTumwaterWA$1,340,127West Virginia Department of Economic DevelopmentCharlestonWV$559,033Wisconsin Department of Workforce DevelopmentMadisonWI$1,013,753 Wyoming Department of Workforce ServicesCheyenneWY$353,441
